Sucks to be you
My goal with this work was to depict the suffering and misfortune of a protagonist I portray and adding a touch of humor to it. Nevertheless, the images – with their gray skies and muted colors – convey a sense of desolation. To convey the desired humor, I opted for wide-angle shots that maintain as much distance as possible; their simplicity is intended to highlight the absurdity of the scenes. What exactly happened in the final picture was left up for interpretation on purpose.
Uniform
Human faces are inherently diverse and unique, yet we are all connected as part of the same species. My goal with this project was to highlight this kinship by reducing faces from my surroundings to shadowy images. To do this, I primarily used the optical blur of a camera lens and converted the color images into black-and-white photos to eliminate any remaining individuality stemming from the color of hair, eyes, or skin. I also asked my subjects to remove any jewelry and glasses. In this way, even the most diverse faces merged into an almost uniform whole.

In my teens I got my hands on an Pentax 35mm camera and quickly got obsessed with it. These images were taken over a three year periode in which I carried this camera with me everywhere I went.
